I was impressed by Tony Fadell’s quote of writing “luxury software”. He compare Claude Code’s leaked codebase to H&M. A mess, caused by engineers letting agents go loose in a codebase. He said that when we stop caring about what we do, when we let agents take charge, we end up with technical debt. With some app that is ugly.
When we care about what we do: that the functions are tidy, that the code is DRY, that the font is the right size, that it works for multiple users, that the API is up and we have back-ups in case something fails. When we take the extra mile to care about our work, people notice. Those are the products that will bubble up to the top when everything else is cheap.
